Get Over It Day

Photobucket

"Get Over It Day was created by Atlanta entrepreneur Jeff Goldblatt, he chose March 9 because it is halfway between Valentine's Day and April Fools' Day. It's a day to take past hurt, humiliation or disappointments and just "Get Over It!"

Margie: Lawsy me, folks, here's a day named for Edna. My sister never gets over anything. Never!

If you don't believe me then just ask Edna what happened when she was 10 years old. Poor Grandma told Edna there was no Tooth Fairy and Edna hit the roof. She's prone to do that.

Edna: Unlike my snotty sister, I'm not going to go digging up the past and telling tales on folks. She's got plenty to get over in the here and now. If I hear her whine and complain one more time about how she thinks I never do any work around here, well...she'll really see me hit the roof then.

Margie: Edna, you know I do all the work and that's why you lie on me. Well, you can get over it. Today and every day. Why don't you go to your room and play Time Out?

Edna: You know what, you old goat? Why don't YOU get over it? I swan, you're not happy unless you start the day with some imagined complaint or another.

I'll give you a time out all right; come here Margie, I've got a nice knuckle sandwich for you.

Margie: And I've got nice grits you can kiss.

We're On Facebook

Photobucket

Margie: Edna, I might as well live alone for all the company you are to me. You spend all your time playing that old Farmville game on Facebook. If you like farming that well, sister, I'll call Cousin T to bring you a hoe so you can make us a garden.

Edna: Margie, you bring that dictionary on over here to me, I want to show you the definition for the word "hypocrite". Who sets their alarm extra early in the morning so they can get to the computer first to check their crops? You, that's who!

I swan, folks, trying to get her away from Farmville is like trying to get her to stop looking at pictures of handsome cowboys: darn near impossible.

Margie: You always try to twist my words, Edna. I get up early to watch the news! Well, maybe I play a little bit.

If any cowboys out there want to friend me then come on over. We can feed the chickens together.

Edna: Folks, don't you friend her, friend me! I always send and return gifts, and I will fertilize your crops every day. Margie will just take your eggs and run the other direction. She'd steal your horses too, if she could.

Margie: Lying liar! You don't send me gifts and you try to steal my pumpkins too. I'll have you know that I don't steal horses!

Not unless the cowboy is attached.

Margie Loves Vegas

Dear Edna,

Having a great time here. Glad you aren't here.

Last night Betty Lou and I took our Ziploc bags to the buffet and borrowed enough cookies and desserts to last for days. Next, we wandered around the poker tables. Edna, the gentlemen here are so friendly. They'd give us chips and point out other tables where we could go play. We'd go to the next table and the same thing would happen. Wasn't that nice?

I cashed in some chips and went to the bar. I told the bartender I'd like a nice orange drink. He made me two of them, I think, but all I know is that I came to in Elvis' lap. Well, I don't think he was really Elvis because he had so many muscles. Hmm...

Edna, I met some showgirls and they basically adopted me. They begged me to be in their show so I gave in and they did one of those extreme makeovers on me. Can you guess which showgirl I am in this picture?

Photobucket

Here's where I'm going tonight. I'm so excited that my bloomers are all a flutter. You should see all the dollar bills in my purse. I'll be stuffing them...well, you know. When this show is over they'll all be calling me Margie the Manhandler.

Photobucket

Oh, we found a ride home. Diamond Dennis and his cousin, Don Wan, offered to bring us. Here's a picture of their car so you'll recognize us when we get home.

Photobucket

Gotta run, Edna. Betty Lou and I are going to walk down to some of the chapels to watch some weddings. I'll get you a souvenir.

Your sister,
Margie

Edna: Good God a'mighty. Folks, all I can say is better Betty Lou than me.

Viva Las Vegas

Photobucket

Margie: Edna, get in here. I've got big news. Betty Lou just called and said she's won a trip for 2 to Las Vegas. She's invited me to go with her.

I'm making a list of things you need to do while I'm gone. I can't trust you to take care of things unless I make you a list.

Edna: Oh happy day, she'll be out of my hair and in a whole other state for---wait, how long are you going to be gone?

And if I weren't such a lady, I would tell you what to do with your list.

Margie: Edna, if I wasn't a lady, I'd chain you to your bed while I'm gone.

Don't you worry about how long I'll be gone. You just know I can return at any time so you behave yourself. Here's your list.

Edna: Margie, you can just take that ding-dang list with you to Vegas, I sure won't be looking at it. I'll run the house how I see fit while you're gone, and if you don't like it then nuts to you.

I wonder if I should call Betty Lou and warn her that she's picked a harpy for a traveling companion?

Margie: Edna, you do that. I won't feel bad then about not sharing any of my winnings.

Deal or no deal?

Edna: Margie, if you bring home any winnings I will eat my Sunday bonnet. Knowing you, anything you do win will be spent on tips at one of those beefcake reviews.

But listen up, sister: if I catch wind of you going behind my back and using any of MY money on this trip into the den of iniquity, you will not be allowed back in this house. You hear me?

Margie: What did you say about beefcake reviews?

Edna: Oh, good Lord. You go pack, I'm going to go warn--er, call Betty Lou.

Margie the floozy

Photobucket

Edna: Margie, I was just plumb shocked by what you posted with those young men last Friday. You just won't be happy until you've completely filthed up our blog, will you? I swan, you have the morals of a barnyard weasel. If I weren't a lady, I'd tell you what I really thought of you.

I'm not even going to ask where you found that second picture...

Margie: Edna, you're so jealous. You always have been. You're no lady, toad, and you know it. Where I get my pictures is none of your concern.

Hussy.

Edna: A true lady would never display questionable pictures of semi-nude cowboys on a public blog, not that I'd expect you to know any better. You always did have a slim grasp on propriety.

You'd best be glad that Mama isn't alive to see these shenanigans, Daddy either.

Margie: Questionable???? There are no questions about these pictures. I can see them well.

You're a fruit loop. Besides, Edna, I don't say one thing in public then say different behind closed doors like you do.

Mama, Edna's a lying liar!!

Edna: Lord, she is surely trying my patience today. Please give me the strength not to sock her in the nose.

At least I know what it means to be discreet. You know, Mama surely did teach us better than to go around in public acting like floozies. My lands, cats in heat act more dignified than you do.

Margie: Listen, old lady, I'm starting my own business. How would I ever get customers if I just hid all those sweet cowboys and kept them for myself?

Hmm, what a lovely thought. Anyway, Edna, kiss my oats. Meow!

Fun Friday

Margie: Ladies, are you fed up with men having all the fun? Just look at this.

I think the time for change has come so I've decided to start my own business for ladies only. My cowboys will be out and about to entertain you.

First, I need a few good ladies to drop by the basement and help me select our finalists from these manly applicants. Take a look then come on over and help me pick out the most qualified.

Look them over, ladies. Touching is permitted.

Sexy Sofa

Margie: Edna, would you look at our sofa? Our party guests must have dropped their food and drink all over it. We can clean all that but how did all these little holes get in there?

We can't afford a new couch. What can we do, Edna?

Edna: Trust you to go all fluttery over a little bit of damage, Margie. You know as good as I do that all a good solid piece of furniture needs to perk it up is to re-upholster it. I bet if we put our minds to it, we'll be able to find some nifty fabric choices online.

Margie: What a good idea, Edna. Let's get something bright and cheerful. The room could stand some pep. Let's start looking.

Edna: I think we should go with something tasteful and timeless. I feel sure that you'll agree, since you claim to be such a lady and all.

Margie: Here it is, Edna. I want this for the sofa, my bedroom, and my bathroom. What do you think ?

Photobucket

Edna: Margie, that's so typical of you; you won't rest until you've hussied up the whole house, will you? You can do what you want for your own bedroom, but it's just not decent having half-nekkid men on the sofa fabric.

Okay...if I agree to pinup fabric for the sofa, then you're going to have to pay for it out of your own money. I won't contribute to the delinquency of our sitting room.

Margie: I'll gladly pay for you to shush.

Let's see... I need enough for a bedspread and a shower curtain. I'm going shopping, Edna.

Edna: You'd best be shopping with your own money, you freeloader! You hear me?

Margie's Manly Men

Margie: While Edna is gone to the beauty parlor (lost cause), I pulled out my picture books. I love the old movies of the 30's and 40's because of the manly men. They don't make them like that anymore.

I thought I'd share my favorites with you all.

Margie and Edna: Cowboys

Margie: Edna, I was just looking at some of my old pictures. Did you know I almost married Roy Rogers once? He met Dale Evans and I just let him go because, by then, I'd met Hopalong Cassidy. Remember him, Edna? I gave him the name Hopalong.

Edna: Margie, usually I’d correct this kind of talk so you don’t mislead our readers, but I’m going to be nice and humor you on this one. I just don’t understand what it is with you and cowboys, I’ve been listening to you gush about them for at least 75 years now.

Margie: Oh honey, a cowboy is so manly. That Lash LaRue was a sweet man too. I love those cowboy clothes and those big guns, and those strong arms. My goodness, where was I? Oh, Edna, did I ever tell you I was asked to play Miss Kitty on Gunsmoke?

Yes, Matt Dillon had a thing for me. I turned them down because I was dating Gene Autry then and he could sing. What fun memories!

Edna: Margie, are you sure those are your memories you're talking about? I think I'd have noticed if all those Hollywood cowboys were courting you. And I'd most definitely remember if anyone ever asked you to be on the TV. You know good and well that the only time you've ever been on a TV show was that episode of "Cops" when you mooned the highway patrolman.

Margie: Edna, a lady's memories are her own. You tend to your own sordid memories. I'm going to look at my pictures!

Jericho BBQ: 1951

Photobucket

Margie: Edna, remember that time Daddy threw a BBQ for the whole town?

Edna: I do. I remember the contests, too.

Margie: Which ones were your favorites, Edna? I liked Hogtie the Cowboy myself.

Edna: I just knew you were going to say that, Margie. My favorite was the unofficial "kissing contest" I ran back behind the barn. Good thing Daddy never knew about that.

Margie: Edna, there is nothing like a BBQ flavored kiss from a hogtied cowboy. Daddy would have chained you to your bed if he'd known that, Edna.

Edna: Frankly, I'm amazed you never told him, you always were such a little snitch. Now, you want to tell me why you're bringing all this up now?

Margie: Because Daddy made a movie of our BBQ & Cousin T put it on this YouTuber place. Watch.
