April is National Humor Month
Margie: Edna, since it's National Humor Month, I thought we could ask our readers what kinds of things they find funny then you and I can do the same.
Some people like cartoons and some like funny movies. I love Carol Burnett and reading funny jokes. Lots of things make me laugh. What makes you laugh, sourpuss?
Edna: Margie, you make me laugh, first thing in the morning when you haven't done your hair yet. My lands, the way you looked this morning was the biggest laugh I've had all week! I also like watching children play, some of the things they come up with are so clever and unexpected.
I must say, I like the idea of devoting a whole month to humor. With the way things are going in the world today, people need to laugh more. You know, laughing lowers blood pressure and increases your endorphin levels. We can all use a little de-stressing, I think.
Margie: That's the truth, Edna. I need more de-stressing than anybody because folks don't know what I live with here. You could make a psychiatrist need anti-depressants.
I guess it is funny when you watch the children play and they all run to their mothers while screaming about the witch cackling at them.
Edna: I refuse to let your foul temper and shrewish insults get the best of me, you harpy. I'm going to go find a re-run of The Dick Van Dyke Show on hulu.com to enjoy and you can just go find someone else to make fun of. I swan, my endorphin levels take a hit every time you open your mouth.
Margie: Edna, you sure are a poor example of Humor Month. I should have talked to Cousin T about it instead of you. You've made our readers need endorphins.
I just need some Special tea.

Your question made me think: "What is humour to me"? Well, I actually laugh a lot and smile a lot that I start to get worried about my smiling.... I think it has become an uncontrollable sickness! ^^
I have to agree with you on one thing that you find funny and that is watching children play. Especially sometimes when they do unexpected things that simply make you laugh. I also enjoyed those moments when they said the most expected words, words that you'll never know where they learned them from.
@BK,
I think you are speaking from a motherhood experience? Hmmm... I still have to see that through. ^^
well, april has passed by..hehe..
I like the Dick Van Dyke Show, too! And the Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, Car 54, Where Are You? (etc)
I'm also partial to the Marx Brothers, but thank goodness for YouTube which allows you to watch the good bits of their movies and skip over the boring stuff (i.e. the 'main story' when they weren't around).
I didn't know that April was Humor Month - that's a good thing. It's good to have a laugh at least once every day, I think.
And Miss Margie and Miss Edna, you two make me laugh (decorously, of course) - with you, that is, never at you! :)

I love humor writing. Situational and observational humor. Ok, in layman terms you and folks like you!
My fur babies make me laugh the way they play. My two Grandsons also make me laugh. I love Carol Burnett and Lucy (as in Lucille Ball). Yes I have to agree.... you two make me laugh along side of you!
LOLcats.com make me laugh every single time I go over there. Priceless!!
Dick VanDyke Show fan here too!!
I like a lot of standup comics, cartoons (both classic funny ones like Warner Bros and new ones like King of the Hill and South Park) sitcoms, again, the classics like Andy Griffith, and some of the new ones like Reno 911 and Big Bang Theory.
Funny movies like Blazing Saddles...ok, a lot of things make me laugh.
And one of my new favorite things is reading humorblogs.
Whew. That's a lot.
Evidently Da Old Man NEVER stops laughing and I think that's funny. Your blog makes me laugh. And my grandchildren sometimes put me in hysterics. Yesterday, 4-yr-old was playin' video games and got stuck...he asked me to help him get "unstuck"...I did! Hubby (known as Papaw) said, "Did you thank Gramma for helping you?" G'son said "Thank you Gramma for helpin' me"...Papaw said, "What about me? Don't I get a thank you?" G,son said, "Thank you, Papaw for watchin' Gramma help me." We both laughed so hard at that one!
Humor is always in my household. Hubby is the Jokier. Sometimes he drives me crazy. As For TV show, liked all the ones you mentioned. today's sitcoms are not so funny. Loved watching King of Queens, Raymond, and Home improvement. The older ones were funnier, Mr Ed, Gomer Pyle, Hogan Heros ,Gilligan Island, and I dream of Jennie. oh, Got a stop... so much good comedy back then!!Thank God for reruns :-)
I always loved Carol Burnett, but not because I thought she was so funny (I didn't.) I just loved how comfortable she seemed with herself. She was so unassuming and a "regular person." Thanks for the walk down Memory Lane.
I love your blog - it always makes my heart smile :) I have a surprise for you on my blog. Check it out here ...
