Margie: Edna, you know I wasn't too happy about Supernatural this season. There were several episodes where I felt I'd wasted my time except for looking at my sweet Jensen Ackles. That boy is sweeter than Granny's chocolate cake.
Anyway, I'd like to borrow 2 pieces of your pretty stationary because I have to write 2 letters. I have some suggestions for next season so I'm sending them to my Congresswoman and the Supernatural producers. Would you like to hear my suggestions?
Edna: Sure, why not? Just make it quick, it's almost time for my stories.
Margie: Edna, this is more important than your floozy stories.
First, Dean and Sam need to be in a warm locale like Hawaii. Second, Dean needs to take his shirt off a lot because it's hot in Hawaii. Thirdly, it's hot in Hawaii so Dean needs to sleep nekkid. Finally, I need to move to Hawaii so I can write this show.
How's that, sister?
Edna: Margie, once again you've proven that you're an idiot. First, if they move the show to Hawaii, that doesn't mean the writers get to live in Hawaii. They might not even film it in Hawaii, you dunce. Second, you are way too old to be writing for youngsters like that. If Sam and Dean were centenarians, then maybe you'd have a chance.
Margie: Aha! You're the idiot! I'll be writing the show so we don't need any other writers. I'll say where we film and I say it's Hawaii! I can write for any age man, nitwit.
You're just mad because you can't stand the thought that I'll be moving to Hawaii. I always knew you'd never want me to leave you.
Edna: Good Lord. Margie, you realize that you don't OWN the show right? My lands, this heat must be frying your brain cells. You go on and move to Hawaii, I'm sure not going to stop you!
Margie: I own what I say I own. I'm going to search your room and see what you took that belongs to me.
Edna: Try it, sister, and you'll be traveling to Hawaii in a pine box.

National Sleep Comfort Month
Margie: Edna, it says here in the paper that this is National Sleep Comfort Month. I can tell them a few things about sleep comfort! First, you need a good mattress and box springs. Next, you put freshly laundered bedclothes on the bed. Third, you take a hot bath and lotion up your body. Finally, put your dang earplugs in if you're like me and have a sister who snores like a freight train.
Edna: You know what would make me sleep comfortably, sister? You sleeping in another house completely! I'm afraid to go to sleep at night lest you come rummage in my belongings for something to pawn.
I'm with you on the freshly laundered bedclothes. There's nothing like slipping into a bed made with fresh sheets. Even better if they've been dried on the clothesline outside. Reminds me of the good old days when we'd help Mama with the laundry. Margie, remember that time she made you pin up all the wet laundry by yourself as punishment for breaking my baby doll? That was a nice day.
Margie: Edna, no pawn shop would buy that junk you call treasure. I didn't break your dang doll. Mama wouldn't believe me when I said Mrs. Pastor's son did it.
I'll tell you how to have the most comfortable night's sleep ever, sister. Get in between those freshly laundered sheets with a freshly showered gentleman like Jensen Ackles!
Edna: Well, isn't that just a typical floozy solution from you! I think I'm going to stick with warm milk with honey before bed, and leave the catting around to the likes of you. Just don't disturb my sleep, you hear me??
Margie: Edna, jealousy has never become you. I can help you sleep once I get my pistol.

Supernatural's back!
We know everyone is talking about fall TV this week, we are too. Supernatural returns tonight with its Season 7 premiere. While we're not sure what this season holds, we do know that they boys have a lot of fun on set. While you're waiting for tonight, why don't you check out the Season 6 gag reel from last season's DVD?

Fall TV is here!
Margie: Sister, I don't think his face is all you like. Floozy. Maybe I will help then I'll be in the hospital where I'll have a TV all to myself.

The CW hates us
Margie: Listen up, dingbat, because I'm not going to repeat myself. Supernatural returns tonight on the CW and I've been waiting for those boys. They took a hiatal or some such and this is a new episode.
You best keep your yap shut tonight or I'll duct tape your big mouth. You got that?
Edna: Margie, for the last time, those voices you hear when you're watching TV aren't me. They're the radio signals you pick up on your fillings. Besides, you're the one who chatters on all through TV episodes, it's like watching with a monkey.
You know, it's about gol-durn time that show is back on the air. I'm going to write a letter to Congress and get them to ban hiatuses. I'm a patient woman, but even I have my limits.
Margie: I don't have any fillings, nutcase. Go take your pills.
You go ahead and write Congress. It's not likely that they're going to help you since they only help themselves to our money. Speaking of money, I'd sure pay that pretty Jensen to come here to visit me. Lordy, it's cold shower time.
Edna: Folks, there's nothing worse than an over-the-hill hussy, and that's the truth.

Supernatural: Thunderstruck
Margie: Edna, that 5th season episode premiere of Supernatural made my hair stand on end. I just loved seeing my boys back in action.
Well, that Jensen Ackles just rules my heart. He is too hot and too fine. That Castiel isn't so bad either. How did you like this episode?
Edna: Margie, it just figures that with a suspenseful episode like that, you'd focus on beefcake. You're no better than that Becky, Sam's fangirl.
Didn't you even notice about Bobby being possessed by a demon? What about the boys being saved from Lucifer? Or, for that matter, Lucifer finding himself a "vessel" so the Apocalypse can begin?
Margie: I certainly did notice all that and Bobby scared me! I loved the way Dean looked when that Becky girl seemed disappointed in him. I can make that up to him for sure.
It made me sad, Edna, when Dean told Sam he doesn't trust him anymore. I know exactly how it feels to have a close relative that you can't trust!
Edna: So do I, Margie, and that's the truth. I thought that part was sad too, but I understand why Dean said what he did. Sam has a lot to answer for from the past year, and I really do hope those two brothers can learn to trust each other again once this is all over and done with.
Margie, do you think we should worry that we talk about these folks like they're real?
Margie: Edna, I think we have more important things to worry about than that, don't you?
Edna: Er, we do? If you say so, sister.

Coming soon to a small screen near you...
Edna: Margie, I'm so happy that we'll have new TV episodes to watch soon. I swan, I've gotten tired of just staring at your face for entertainment all summer.
Margie: Well, I'm tired of hearing you complain. You sit around and ask me what's going to happen on your returning shows like you think I write them.
My only interest is that sweet, charming, yummy Jensen Ackles. He invades my dreams every night. I love those soft lips and...
Edna: Oh good Lord, I forgot that I'm going to have to listen to you gush all over that poor boy 'til the cows come home. Good thing Supernatural is so entertaining, now if only you'd hush up while it was on. Another returning show I'm looking forward to is Fringe, that show gives me the chill bumps. And it's just confusing enough to remind you that it's from the creators of LOST.
What shows are you looking forward to watching this fall, loudmouth?
Margie: Well, I love Sons of Anarchy with those wild motorcycle men. Yum! You know I won't miss that sexy Christian Slater in The Forgotten either. He can warm my bed all winter if he likes.
Flash Forward also looks good because it reminds me of what happened in Jericho a while back. I'd best start stockpiling popcorn.
Edna: You go ahead and do that, I'll be mapping out the rest of our viewing list. A new show I really have my eye on is Glee. I watched the series premiere and it tickled my funny bone, but in a smart way. Hmm, I bet that means you won't like it, though. Come to think of it, I bet I'll be watching The Big Bang Theory on my own too, those boys on that show are way too brainy for you.
Margie: You watch what you please and I'll do the same. If you have a funny bone then I'd love to know where it is.
I wish you'd go up in a Big Bang, nitwit. I'm going to my room now.
Edna: Yeehaw, you do that sister! Then I'll have the TV all to myself so I can watch The Venture Bros. on adult swim. I know you always say that cartoons are for children and the feeble-minded, so maybe I can enjoy my show in peace without any of your sass.
Dear readers, I just wish I didn't have to wait a few weeks for all my shows to start up again, especially since my crabby sister is in her room right now. Well, such is my burden. Tell me, what shows are you folks looking forward to watching this Fall?

Fun Friday: 'Tis the season!
Edna: Ladies and gentlemen, I tell you what...I love this time of year. Now, you might think it's because the weather gets cooler and the leaves turn those beautiful colors, but that's only part of the story. What really gets me excited about Fall is the new TV season. Oh, the anticipation of a brand new season of my favorite shows after a long, dry summer!
My sister and I have several shows on the TV that we really like, but if you've been paying attention you'll realize there's one we talk about a lot: Supernatural. My lands, what a show! The CW has been running promotional spots on their channel in anticipation of the season 5 premiere on September 10th, and below are the two newest ones. I'm sharing them with all of you fine folks so that you'll see why I'm so excited. But be forewarned, there are spoilers in these spots, so view at your own risk.
And this one just gives me goosebumps...

A-Googling we will go...
Edna: Like most blogs, we get people coming to visit us from all sorts of different places, and we get a lot of hits from search engines. Some search queries we don't want to share in mixed company, people ought to be ashamed. But what's interesting is that we get a lot of regular visits on some very specific terms.
Margie, did you know that for some reason, people come to our blog pretty frequently after searching for "suspenders"?
Margie: Well, I'm searching for suspenders too, Edna. I'd like to find them on that Jensen Ackles. That's another term people search for and I sure understand that.
Edna, do you know what I'd like to do with Jensen's suspenders?
Edna: Margie, I have a surprise for you. Did you know that suspenders is a British slang term for garter belt? People must be awfully surprised and disappointed when they get to our blog and see our post on Jensen Ackles WEARING suspenders. Although, if we were blogging about Jensen Ackles wearing a garter belt, it would be a whole different blog altogether, wouldn't it?
Margie: Edna, if Jensen wore garter belts then I'd not blog about him at all. I like my men to be manly men.
Speaking of manly men, Edna, we have a lot of folks searching for the term Sears catalog. I suppose that's understandable. I always enjoyed looking at the men's underwear too. The tighter the better.
Edna: Margie, your crassness is showing, dear. The ironic thing is that people also frequently come to us from Google after searching for "qualities of a lady." Quite frankly, if they knew that YOU were the one to write that post, they'd run the other way.
Margie: Listen up floozy. Let's talk about people who search for Gary Sandy. Who wrote about him? Huh, hussy?
Who said they liked his tight britches? You best clean around your own porch first, Edna, before you try to clean mine. Nitwit!
Edna: Clearly I'm not the only person who likes his tight britches, people come look at that post almost every day. You're just jealous because people really love something that I wrote. So kiss my grits, you old crow.
Margie: Edna, I regret that I only have one behind to tell you to kiss!

Who is the hunkiest of them all?
Dear Readers,
As most of you know, here at the Basement we enjoy admiring aesthetically pleasing men. Sometimes, though, we disagree about who is the most attractive. (But only rarely, since arguing is so unladylike and we do strive to be classy and gracious, even when the other person is being totally unreasonable and idiotic. But we digress...)
We would like your help deciding which hunk is the hunkiest. The choices are below, please cast your vote in the poll at the end of the post. We'll leave the poll up until Wednesday night at 10PM EST, and we'll be announcing the results shortly thereafter.
Love, Margie and Edna

Fun Friday: Manly Suspenders
Margie: It's our lucky day, friends. Edna has gone to the Bath and Body Works store. Lawsy me, she loves that place so she'll be gone for hours. She'll try all their lotions and come home to give me a sick headache too.
Well, to be honest, we didn't have such a place when we were young women so we do like to smell good now.
You know what else we missed out on when we were young ladies ? Hot men. Yes, there was no such thing. Ladies didn't use such terms. I sure am glad I lived to see that change.
For instance, here's the hottest man I've ever seen. Turn me loose! Jensen Ackles, you shiver my old timbers! That's not all but a lady knows when to be quiet and just smile.
What makes him even hotter than hot? Look at this picture and see if you can guess. Lord have mercy on this old lady's heart!
Whooee, friends and neighbors, look at those suspenders! He makes suspenders sexy.
One more then I'd best go act like I've been cleaning house before Edna gets home.

Supernatural's back!
Feh, who am I to know what's in the mind of a TV executive? As long as I get my Sam and Dean back, I guess I should be happy.
Margie: Edna, you know that those dumb TV executives use those outdated Nielsen ratings which means they don't care about the majority of people who watch TV. They only count a few.
Dean is not yours, sister, but you can have Sam. Best watch out or he'll pull that demon right out of you.
Edna: Margie, you can try and rile me all you want, but I am not going to let this blog post degenerate into a fight over Dean Winchester. I am too much of a lady for that, unlike some floozies I could name.
I guess I shouldn't complain too much about the CW's programming department, they did have the good sense to renew Supernatural for a fifth season. Smart move, they knew they'd have a fangirl riot on their hands if they didn't. Anyway, I'm looking forward to tonight's episode, I've been worried about Dean and Sam. Those boys keep too many secrets from each other, and I can feel something bad coming on the horizon.
Margie: Edna, people describe you in many ways but lady is not one of them. Enough said.
Yes, those boys do have secrets but they'll all come out in the end. I just hope those nice boys won't turn into old crabs like us. And, may I say that I'm hoping to see more sex in the new episodes?
Edna: Oh, good Lord, woman! Don't make me turn the hose on you.

My Bloody Valentine
Margie: Just call me fangirl. Ooh, how I drool over Jensen Ackles. He's my young man who stars in Supernatural on the CW. Hold on to your bloomers because he's coming to the big screen in a movie. It's being released today.
The movie is called "My Bloody Valentine" and I'd bloody anybody who gets in my way of seeing this. This is one hunka burning love.
Jensen, my door is always open. You could make me happy if you'd come over for Special Tea.

Supernatural returns!
Edna: Oh Margie, I'm so excited! There's a brand-spanking new episode of Supernatural tonight! I swan, it seems like it's been ages since there was a new episode, even though I know it's only been a couple of months. I do so look forward to seeing those Winchester boys again.
Margie: I look forward to seeing my hunka, hunka burning love. That's Jensen if you didn't know. My stars, Edna, that young man just brings out the worst in me.
I could talk about him all day. Sometimes I just sit in my rocking chair and close my eyes and...
Never you mind the rest, Edna.
Edna: Land's sake, I don't want to hear the rest, Margie! My goodness, there is more to that show than just eye candy, you hussy. Don't you even care about poor Dean and what he said happened to him in H-E-L-L? And what about Anna, do you think she made it back to Heaven? And that horrible demon, Alistair--oooh, he gave me the shivers. Think we've seen the last of him?
Margie: There's more than eye candy? I know that! Dean is my heart candy.
Anyway, Edna, I care a lot about Dean. I don't like those demons a bit. No, I doubt we've seen the last of Alistair.
I don't know about Anna but I know I'd be in Heaven if I'd been in that back seat with Dean.
Edna: Margie, you should be ashamed of yourself. All I know is, Supernatural comes back tonight and I won't be watching it and looking for any cheap thrills, unlike some other shallow people I could name.
Margie: Edna, I do believe you've already forgotten your New Year's resolutions. You aren't being nice to me at all.
Thank goodness Supernatural is coming back so you'll shut up for an hour!
Edna: Kiss my grits, Margie! It was a stupid resolution, anyway.

Margie Writes Santa
Dear Santa,
Margie here. I'm sorry we haven't spoken since 1947 but I've felt sure you never got over me turning down your marriage proposal. I hope you understand that I would never have defied my parents and they had many concerns about me marrying you.
First, Daddy said a gentleman would have a proper vehicle in which to come calling on a lady. A sleigh is not one.
Two, Mama said a gentleman does not court a lady without changing his clothes on occasion. She hated your red suit.
Third, you know I told you that I could never live with a bunch of elves who hammered and banged all night for 365 days a year.
I'm hoping that eases your mind as I do need to ask your help this Christmas. My finances are tight in our current economy so I'm asking you to deliver some gifts for me. Here's my list:
Please bring Cousin T a new hat to wear to church. I think he'd look quite dapper in red.
Please bring my sister, Edna, a year's supply of her medicine. She's never gotten over those headaches you caused her to have from all that "Ho, Ho, Ho" stuff.
Finally, all I want is this:
Merry Christmas,
Margie

Mr. Jensen Ackles at the picture show
Edna: Margie, you talk a lot about that talented young man from the "Supernatural" television show. But I bet I know something about Mr. Jensen Ackles that you don't.
Margie: Edna, I talk about him a lot and I have sweet dreams of him too.
What do you think you know?
Edna: Don't get snippy with me, you harpy! I'm being nice and sharing this information with you. I even have pictures. But if you don't want to see them....
Margie: Have a brownie, Edna, and let me see. I hope he has clothes on.
Edna: Margie, I don't even want to know what would make you think that I would show you nekkid pictures of that nice young man. You must be out of your gourd, and I'm going to ignore that you even said that. I'll take the brownie, though.
Now, the first thing I'm going to show you isn't really a picture of him, it's a link to a movie trailer for his new movie coming out in January 2009. It's called "My Bloody Valentine 3-D" and you can look at the trailer here. But hold on to your bloomers, it's a might scary.
Margie: Sakes alive, Edna. Are you trying to scare an old lady to death? I just don't know if I can go see that movie.
I'd sure like for that young man to pick me as his regular Valentine though. Hunka burning love is what he is. Whoo Wee!
Edna: Get your mind out of the gutter and pay attention, I have something else to show you. These pictures are from a movie Mr. Ackles made some time ago called "Ten Inch Hero" but it hasn't been released yet here in the US. I bet you won't even recognize him!
Margie: My word, Edna. Blue hair? Tattoos? Well, I always did love a bad boy.
I'm glad you call him Mr. Ackles because he probably wouldn't like you calling him by his first name.
Edna: Good grief, Margie! I take the time and the trouble to show you these things I found, and all you do is insult me. See if I show you anything interesting again. From now on, I'm keeping Jensen for myself, you can go kiss a toad.
Margie: I'd sleep with one eye open if I were you, Edna.
Announcement for our readers in the
Los Angeles/Southern California area:
There will be a special screening of "Ten Inch Hero"
in Los Angeles on Monday, November 24th!
For more information, including theater location
and ticket prices, head here: "Ten Inch Hero" blog.

Carry On My Wayward Son
Note: If you have not yet seen "Lazarus Rising" there are spoilers in this post.
Margie: Edna, I must say the season 4 premiere of Supernatural was everything I could have wanted. My Dean got out of Hell and his sweet voice and pretty face were intact.
There sure was something strange about Sam though. That boy was trying to act like Dean if you ask me. I'm keeping a close eye on him.
Edna: I think you're right, Margie. That Sam went through some changes while Dean was in Hell, no two ways about it. And he's become awfully secretive, hasn't he?
But Margie, I have to say this: sometimes this show makes me blush. Young ladies in their unmentionables, smutty language, young men flashing their chests...it's enough to make a lady weep.
Margie: Yes, Sam is secretive and he's hooked up with that Ruby. I don't trust her a bit.
Edna, you are so right about those things. You surely do blush and I smile all the way through the show. Ahem. Edna, do you think that man/angel really came from God?
Edna: You're a smiling hussy, Margie. I don't know where that angel came from, but when was the last time you saw an angel with black wings? I hope Dean is careful and uses his head before he decides whether or not to trust him.
I also hope that Mr. Kripke knows what he's doing. I think this is going to be an interesting season.
Margie: I agree with that, Edna. Did you hear something? That must be the pizza delivery boy. You wait right there, Edna.
Edna: Wait Margie, that's not Dean and Bobby out there, it really is the pizza delivery boy. Don't you dare answer the door in your bloomers! Oh Lord, I think we're going to have to find a new pizza place.

Supernatural returns tonight!
Edna: Oh my stars and garters, Margie, I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! Do you know what tonight is?
Margie: Unlike you, Edna, I know what every night is. Tonight is when I spend time with my sweet voiced young man. I'm going to have to calm myself down or I may fly right out the roof.
Edna: Well, you're sharing Mr. Sweet Voice tonight with me and several million other people, you know. I can't wait to watch the season premiere, I can't believe it's finally here. I wonder how they're going to get poor Dean out of H-E-double-hockey-sticks?
Did you remember to go to the store and get us some snacks?
Margie: Edna, I am not going to watch some old hockey game! I'm watching Supernatural.
Snacks? Yes, I got brownies for me and out of date cakes for you. You can hush while the show is on too and don't make those crazy sounds.
Edna: Date cakes? You know perfectly well that the only dates I enjoy are the ones that involve dinner and dancing. Just for that, I'm sending Cousin T out to the Krispy Kreme, and we're not getting any of them for you. How do you like them apples?
As for making noise during the show, don't you worry. I'll be too wide-eyed to make any sounds. You just make sure you don't talk through the whole show like you usually do. I want to pay attention and see if Sam and Bobby can save Dean. I just love that Bobby, don't you?
Margie: Edna, did you always aspire to be a moron? You made it. Krispy Kreme doesn't have dates and Cousin T won't mistreat me.
Bobby is a fine man but I just want Dean. And, I'm not talking to you during the show anyway. I'm talking to somebody else. Isn't it your bedtime?
Edna: As soon Dean makes it out of you-know-where, I'm sending him your way with some rock salt and holy water, you demon.
Margie: Kiss my you-know-what, Edna.

Margie's Emmy Predictions
Margie: Edna thinks all a body's got to do is watch TV. Emmy winners my eye. Well, I can pick them better than she can.

Here are my picks:
Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series
James Spader as Alan Shore
Boston Legal • ABC
Bryan Cranston as Walt White
Breaking Bad • AMC
Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan
Dexter • Showtime
Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House

The Closer • TNT
Glenn Close as Patty Hewes
Damages • FX Networks
Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit • NBC
Holly Hunter as Grace Hanadarko
Saving Grace • TNT
** This is a tough choice but I pick Sally Field because she has really turned her life around. First, she thought she wanted to be a Flying Nun then she got mixed up with Smokey and the Bandit. She's a respectable mother in "Brothers and Sisters" now so she should win.
Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series
William Shatner as Denny Crane
Boston Legal • ABC
Ted Danson as Arthur Frobisher
Damages • FX Networks
Zeljko Ivanek as Ray Fiske
Damages • FX Networks
Michael Emerson as Ben

Brothers & Sisters • ABC
Chandra Wilson as Dr. Miranda Bailey
Grey’s Anatomy • ABC

Outstanding Drama Series
Boston Legal • ABC
Damages • FX Networks
Dexter • Showtime
House • FOX
Lost • ABC
Mad Men • AMC
** I predict the winner will be Supernatural. Wait a minute. What dummy forgot to list my show here?
I guess I'll have to pick Lost but it's just not right.
Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series
SciFi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica"
"Stargate Atlantis,"
NBC's " Heroes,"
CBS "Jericho"
Discovery Channel documentary "Human Body: Pushing the Limits.
** The clear winner here is Jericho. What a show! Fantastic. Oh, here's an unannounced award:
The Emmy for Dumbest Decision by a Network goes to CBS for their cancellation of Jericho. Special mention to Leslie Moonves. Need I say more?
Outstanding Sound Editing For A Series
Supernatural • Jus In Bello • CW • Supernatural Films, Inc., and Warner Bros. Television Productions, Inc.
** No need to list more nominees. This is the clear winner. Why? All you have to do is listen to the sound of Jensen Ackles voice and you'll see why. There is no sweeter sound in all the world. Lawsy me, let him whisper in my ear.
Oops! I hear Edna calling me. Gotta run. Bye now.
