Passionate Bloggers

Photobucket

We received a very nice award last week! (Our apologies to Kat over at Candles Crafts and Whatnot for being so late in thanking her.) We do love getting all kinds of awards, but what we love best about this particular one (besides the fact that we are fond of Kat) is that we do not have to pass it along! Now, that's not because we're lazy, but because we have so many favorite blogs, it muddles our tired old brains to try and pick just a few deserving recipients. So, thank you Kat, we love our newest award!

On a side note, we'd like to take a moment to campaign for our favorite television Alpha Males, Sam and Dean Winchester. E!Online has been running an Alpha Male Madness tourney all month, and it's down to the final four. Both Sam and Dean are in these latest brackets, so we hope you get over there and vote. Apparently you can vote as often as you want, so go Team Winchester!

Supernatural's back!

Edna: Margie, there's a new episode of Supernatural on tonight, and it's about ding-dang time, too! I swan, I don't know what those folks at the CW are thinking with these hiatuses. You'd think they'd want to keep the ball rolling on all their good shows, considering how few people watch their channel in the first place.

Feh, who am I to know what's in the mind of a TV executive? As long as I get my Sam and Dean back, I guess I should be happy.

Margie: Edna, you know that those dumb TV executives use those outdated Nielsen ratings which means they don't care about the majority of people who watch TV. They only count a few.

Dean is not yours, sister, but you can have Sam. Best watch out or he'll pull that demon right out of you.

Edna: Margie, you can try and rile me all you want, but I am not going to let this blog post degenerate into a fight over Dean Winchester. I am too much of a lady for that, unlike some floozies I could name.

I guess I shouldn't complain too much about the CW's programming department, they did have the good sense to renew Supernatural for a fifth season. Smart move, they knew they'd have a fangirl riot on their hands if they didn't. Anyway, I'm looking forward to tonight's episode, I've been worried about Dean and Sam. Those boys keep too many secrets from each other, and I can feel something bad coming on the horizon.

Margie: Edna, people describe you in many ways but lady is not one of them. Enough said.

Yes, those boys do have secrets but they'll all come out in the end. I just hope those nice boys won't turn into old crabs like us. And, may I say that I'm hoping to see more sex in the new episodes?

Edna: Oh, good Lord, woman! Don't make me turn the hose on you.

The Winchester Mystery House

"Winchester Mystery House, Near San Jose Before the Earthquake"

Edna: I think I'm going to sue these folks over at The Winchester Mystery House website. I clicked on that link expecting that it was going to be all about my boys on that TV show, Supernatural. But I'll tell you what, there was not one picture of Sam or Dean Winchester to be found anywhere on that site!

I guess it was interesting and all, reading about that spooky mansion out there in California. I won't go into all the details here, but it was built up by the wife of William Winchester, the son of the man who owned the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. When he died in 1881, his wife Sarah inherited his fortune and a huge share in the gun company. Sarah Winchester, in her grief, spent the next 36 years continuously building a mish-mash of rooms and staircases. The place was like a labyrinth, and it's said that she consulted the spirits when making the building plans.

Today, the house itself (now four stories high after the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, and numbering at approximately 160 rooms) is designated as a California Historical Landmark. There have been some reports of haunted happenings at the house, including footsteps, cold spots, and strange moving lights. To read more about the Winchester Mystery House, go here.

So what do you think Margie, should we have Cousin T pack up the car and head on out to San Jose and visit that place?

Margie: I'm all for that, Edna, but I'll be driving. Hold on and let me get my pistol, box of salt, and silver bullets.

I hope I don't shoot you by mistake, Edna. What a shame.

Edna: Just for that, I'm going to make you stay in the car while I take the guided tour. And I'm not going to buy you a souvenir shot glass at the gift shop either, you harpy. Cousin T, what souvenir would you like, dear?

Cousin T: A pair of earplugs.
