1940's Slang

Photobucket

Margie: Slang surely has changed since mine and Edna's time. Nowadays folks use some slang words that I certainly wouldn't use even in private. Here's a look at some slang from mine and Edna's day.

Drugstore Cowboy - a guy that hangs around on a street corner trying to pick up girls. (I always did love cowboys).

Dumb Dora - a stupid female. (Too bad Edna's name wasn't Dora).

Whoopee - To have a good time. (I could tell you stories...)

GAMS-a woman's legs

Drooly- A cute guy (I'm drooling now).

Khaki wacky- Boy crazy (This would be Edna).

Hi sugar, are you rationed?- Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? (I'd love some sugar).

They were very tame slang words. I wish it was still like that, instead of some of the words they use today.
