Edna: I swan, sometimes I am just amazed at what you can find on YouTube. It seems like there's something for everyone, especially if you have particular tastes about what you might want to watch. Say, for example, you wanted to watch a duet between Rock Hudson and Bea Arthur singing about drugs? Well, YouTube has just the thing!
Pull up a chair, Margie, and pour us both a drink. This promises to be good!
Margie: Pause that, sister, while I go make the Mai Tai's.

Funky Friday
Margie: The weather this week has been horrid. Not only have I been stuck in the house with Edna but every day has been damp, dark, dreary, and depressing. Let's get up and have a little dance. If this song doesn't help your mood, don't say I didn't try.

Because sometimes you just need a laugh
Edna: And if this doesn't make you laugh, even just a little bit, then I wash my hands of you.

Daily Affirmations
Edna: This young lady is truly adorable, and you surely do have to admire her self-esteem. Goodness, I hope I don't have to climb up on the bathroom counter for this to work for me!
Many thanks to Miss Amy Vernon for originally bringing this to my attention. Thank you, Miss Amy!

Fantasy Friday
Margie: Here's a little something for you ladies and gentlemen so you can get your pulse to racing. I have loved this video since it was first released.
I find this video especially good for us old folks as we don't have much energy anymore.
Watch and drool.

Funky Friday
Margie: It's Friday again, folks, and we're all looking forward to the weekend. If you need to get in the mood then let Margie help.
You just watch this video, get out of your seat, and join in the fun. This little dance will make you feel good all under. I only regret that you can't see Edna do this dance with her little chicken legs.
Let's get started.

Food Friday
Margie: Edna and I lived through the Depression and that wasn't always easy. Fortunately, we didn't live together then so I had a peaceful life. I just worked at the library and conducted my own business without Edna trying to boss me.
Anyway, people didn't always have a lot to eat during the Depression and today's food prices are so high that people nowadays don't always have a lot to eat either.
I thought we could all benefit from watching 91-year-old cook and great-grandmother, Clara, recount her childhood during the Great Depression as she prepares meals from the era.

Flashback Friday
Margie: Edna and I are a little prone to ruminate about the 1920's. Maybe it's because we heard Mama and Daddy talk about them so much. Well, Edna was born in the 20's so I guess that's why she's partial to them.
Anyway, I wanted to share the 20's with you. There was TV, Don Juan, movies, wonderful books, and plenty of fashion. Check this out.

Flashback Friday
Margie: I loved the 1960's. I especially loved all the TV shows that were on then. Nobody can do comedy like Lucy did and the men then were hunks of the highest order.
Enjoy this flashback to TV shows of the 1960's.

Edna's Fun Friday: Weezer!
Edna: Even though I may be a half-deaf, creaky old lady with arthritis in her hips, I still know a toe-tappin' song when I hear one! Now, I'm not that familiar with these Weezer folks the kids are into, but they sure do make a mighty fine music video. Even though it's a contemporary song, this video has a retro look to it that I just love.
You know, in her younger days, Margie looked a little bit like the pretty girl in this video. But Margie certainly didn't have the men falling all over themselves to get her attention like this young lady does, no matter what Margie tells you.

King Tut Day
Margie: I am proud to celebrate King Tut Day today although it actually falls on the 4th. This day is to recognize the date of the discovery of King Tutankhamen's Tomb.
I was a librarian most of my life so I know all about King Tut. Maybe Edna dated him once? If you'd like to know more then I suggest you visit your local library for books on Egyptian history.
Edna, did you ever study King Tut in school? I don't think you cared much about history. You were more interested in your hair and nails.
Edna: Oh, please. Margie, the only reason you know about this holiday is because I told you about it, so stop acting like such a know-it-all. Besides, you're flat-out lying to these folks: I know good and well that everything you know about King Tut you learned from that Steve Martin song.
Just you remember, Margie, God punishes liars.

Edna's Halloween-y Fun Friday
Edna: Ladies and gentlemen, I feel I really must apologize for my sister's behavior lately. I don't know what's gotten into her, what with all her talk of "Margiedales" and locking handsome men in our basement and whatnot. I swan, sometimes I think the pharmacist must be swapping out her iron pills for hormone pills! Well, in honor of the upcoming holiday and since it's MY Fun Friday, I'm sharing a little family-friendly entertainment today.
Note to all you handsome men out there: if you see my sister coming, you'd best turn tail and run the other way because she is plumb out of her floozy gourd right now.

Edna's Giggle-licious Fun Friday
Edna: Personal taste in humor is an interesting thing. It's hard to predict, and even harder to explain. Some people like cerebral humor, some people gravitate to the silly. What makes me laugh isn't necessarily what makes you laugh, and that's okay. Goodness knows, if we were all the same, the world would be a boring place indeed.
Now, my sister frequently tells me how silly I am, and sometimes she's right. (But don't you dare tell her I said that!) The silly and the absurd tend to make me laugh out loud, which is why I'm sharing this clip with you for Fun Friday this week. It makes me giggle, and giggling just makes me happy, which is exactly what I need at the end of the week. Enjoy!

Edna's Fun Friday: Gene Kelly
Edna: Those of you who have been paying attention lately know that I have a soft spot for men who are light on their feet. And in my opinion, few have been lighter on their feet than Mr. Gene Kelly. My lands, but that man could dance! But did you know that he could dance on roller skates?
Gene Kelly appeared on skates in two movies that I know of: 1980's Xanadu and below, in 1955's It's Always Fair Weather. Watch this clip, and I guarantee that you'll be marveling at how he did it! (The best stuff happens from around the 2-minute mark on to the end.) Oh, and kids? Don't try this at home!

Fun Friday: Rise and Shine
Margie: Friends, I'd like to share one of my pet peeves with you today and I'm sure some of you can relate. You see, there is not much that makes me madder than somebody laying piled up in the bed while I try to clean this house. It's just pure laziness and Mama didn't teach us to be like that.
Never fear, friends, I have found the remedy for those lazy folk. The next time you need to get somebody out of the bed, you go turn on this video and watch them shake that booty. Lawsy, it worked for me this morning.
Edna came a charging out of her bedroom bellowing like a stuck hog. If you've never seen Edna first thing of a morning then count yourself lucky. She looks like a haint from that Supernatural show.
Go ahead. Turn up the volume now. Rise and shine!

Edna's Fun Friday: Physical Fitness
Edna: You know, all that talk earlier this week about increasing endorphin levels got me to thinking that I should start up an exercise routine to make me feel better. But since I'm an elderly lady with weak bones, it will have to be low-impact. Imagine my excitement when I found this on the YouTube, do you think this might do the trick?
