Frozen Fruity Friday
Margie: Look at this, sister. I've found the perfect way to beat this summer heat. Fruit desserts. What could be cooler or more refreshing? I'm going to start eating a different dessert every day to stay cool. Why don't you get Mama's old fan so you can fan me while I enjoy my dessert?
Edna: I'm going to ignore that request, sister. But you've certainly got the right idea about keeping cool by eating fruit desserts. It's so hot outside, all I want to eat these days is cold fruit. These triple-decker citrus popsicles look like they'll do quite nicely.
Margie: Hand me one of those sister, then I'll go make some Special Tea popsicles. After one of those we won't even realize how hot it is.
Edna: You're on!

Orange Crisp!
Margie: Edna, I have found the perfect drink for my summer and don't you touch it! It's called Orange Crisp and I think I'm going to be addicted. I love orange and I sure love a drink with a kick.
In these days when money is tight this looks like a good thing for me. I love a bargain. What will you be drinking this summer, sister?
Edna: We'd best be calling Cousin T to go down to the Save-a-Lot and buy some in bulk, because I love that stuff too! I don't want to be fighting you over the last bottle.
Margie: You best be calling him then and tell him to pick up a strong lock for me.

Iced tea to quench your summer thirst
Margie: Edna, today is National Iced Tea Day. I wonder how much iced tea we've had to drink in our lifetime? Daddy sure did love tea. Mama always had a big pitcher in the fridge for him.
I think Cousin T is the only person who can drink as much tea as Daddy did. What do you think, sister?
Edna: I don't know, I've seen you put away gallons of the stuff then blame me when it's all gone. Speaking of which, we're all out so you'd best go make some more.
Margie: I'm not well, sister. The Dr. told me not to lift any pans. The best I can do is hold a tea glass then I run to the potty chair because of this medicine.
Ouch! Call my male nurse. Hurry!
Edna: Oh, I can hear the violins playing now. But you're right, the doctor said you should rest so I'll go brew us up a fresh batch of iced tea. But I don't want to hear any complaints about how I made it. Deal?
Margie: Deal. Make sure you put enough sugar, Edna. Oh, don't put ice in it until it cools off.
Edna: Good Lord folks, next thing you know she'll want me to call her "Your Majesty" and curtsy when I bring her a glass of iced tea. Kiss my grits, your royal highness!
